PLAZA GRANDE

Also knows as Independence Square, this place can be considered the center of the city and starting point to discover the Historical Central of Quito. In the middle of this square you´ll find the Monument to the independence and in this surroundings the main power of the State – represented by the Presidential Palace, the City Hall, The Cathedral and the Bishop´s Palace- are found.

IGLESIA DEL SAGRARIO

Small Church constructed in the 18th century and located next to the Cathedral of Quito. Special attention deserves its stone faced, the Baroque style interior door and the “Frescos” paintings of its cupola.

IGLESIA DE LA COMPAÑÍA

160 years lasted the construction of this church (01605-1765) considered the best example of the Baroque style in Quito. Its impressive façade carved in stone is the entrance to its extraordinary interior decorated with a great work at gold leaf.

PASAJE ESPEJO Y PLAZA CHICA

This traditional Pedestrian Street follows a west-east direction. Located few meters away from Quito´s Main Square, this Street passes by very interesting places like the “Small Square” and the Theater Bolivar besides of counting on an excellent offer of places to eat.

PLAZA BENALCÁZAR

Located few meters north of the Main or Independence Square this small but emblematic square is the site where the Spaniard Sebastian de Benalcázar founded the city of Quito on December the 6th 1534. At one of the sides you will find a statue dedicated to the Spanish character.

IGLESIA Y CONVENTO SAN FRANCISCO

Complex made up of a wide Stone square, an easily recognizable church due ti its twin towers and the convent that hosts a museum of religious art of great value. The construction of this only 2 years after the city´s foundation

CONVENTO DE LA MERCED

Its construction began in the year 1701; the main characteristics of this church are the predominant and elegant white color, its light quadrangular lower and the stone square of the same name facing one of the sides-featuring the best and more complete view lot this beautiful complex.

CALLE DE LA RONDA

One of the oldest and at the same time more traditional street of Quito old town Bohemian site that offers cafeterias and restaurant sounds and flavors that ared enjoyed so much by the inhabitants of Quito as well as by the city´s visitors. This it is definitively a must see place to better know this city.

BULEVAR 24 de Mayo

Avenue built at the beginning of the 20th century, this point was considered the southern city limit. Now this avenue be reconstructed 4 squares and transformed in a Bulevar that are join to important and interested places of the Historic Center of Quito as La Ronda and San Francisco Square.
